Through discussion and lecture participants will gain basic knowledge and risk management skills for lifting operations. This is a great class if you have never worked on an elevator phone system or if you struggle with the programming of these devices. You will gain basic knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Sample systems include K-Tech, Viking, and Janus, as well as a discussion of the additional code-compliant monitoring systems used in the industry.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
This course introduces the basic principles of print reading. By the end of this two-week, two-hour class, the participant will learn:

- The electrical symbols and legends

Sequence of Operation I
Through discussion, lecture and practice, Sequence of Operation I is designed for learners to obtain a basic understanding of the power requirements for elevator systems, the operational structure, basic circuits and how an elevator system operates.
*Sequence of Operation II is the next course in this 2-part series.

Sequence of Operation II
Through discussion, lecture, and practice, the Sequence of Operation II course is designed for learners to understand the different operational sequences of an elevator system and how they function from the beginning to the end of an operational cycle. This course will provide a basic understanding of controller components, review symbols on an elevator schematic, and special functions an elevator system performs as it relates to building code. We will introduce machinery types, traction components as well as some of the tools and testing equipment commonly used when performing troubleshooting and maintenance.

- Understand the different operational sequences of an elevator system and how they function from the beginning to the end of an operational cycle.
